From backyard cannons, to radios, to the Clouds…
I’m a tinkerer and weirdo creator. Although I’ve been blowing up stuff and setting parts of my parents’ house on fire since age 12, my more productive creativity didn’t really kick into gear until 2013 when I invented and co-founded goTenna. As the head of technology and product at the company, I designed a broad suite of off-grid communications hardware and software products for both consumers and professionals.
The experience was incredibly educational for me. I entered as a 25 year old first-time Founder with no traditionally recognized technical skills, and now feel incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to acquire an unusual blend of expertise in hardware product design, manufacturing, supply chain, iOS/Android app development, backend server designs, QA processes, AGILE development, and even government contracting.
Although still incredibly passionate about technology, most recently I’ve been focused on exploring my artistic side with The Fluffy Cloud. A mobile concert stage and art installation which I debuted at Burning Man 2019. Since then I’ve also had the opportunity to exhibit at Art Basel and continue to work on finding ways to share my art with the world.
On the business side, I enjoy advising startups on product development and all the other concerns that come with startup life. I am a member of Founder’s Pledge, committed to supporting non-profits working to reduce existential risk threats to humanity. I am also in the process of starting my own non-profit foundation researching hyper-efficient resources utilization technologies.
On the personal side, I am a happy adherent to minimalism and currently live on the road with just 2 small suitcases to my name, in terms of material possessions. I was born in Miami but grew up all over the world, with the majority of my pre-college time in Sāo Paulo, Brazil. I came to the US to attend the University of Pennsylvania and have been primarily in the US ever since.
