The Fluffy Cloud

The world’s first and only flying 360-degree sound & light experience.

Only about a month after my first Burn, as I kept noodling over what to do, it suddenly occurred to me that there was space to do something radically new in the performance space.

Although I had been to so many events, it was only then that I realized that I kept going to events with friends only to spend my entire night looking at the backs of their heads. I wanted to fix this. I wanted to do something radically new, not something iterative on previous experiences. It was by thinking about how to create this, that brought me to the concept of The Fluffy Cloud.

Although originally designed to be MUCH smaller (things snowballed and mistakes were made), the Cloud is nearly 30 feet tall, and equally as wide, packed with a custom circular 60,000 watt sound system and over 33,000 individually addressable LEDs that completely envelope guests as they arrange themselves under and around the Cloud. As a suspended 360-degree performance space, it naturally creates a circular space where people are less packed, more comfortable, and free to look in any direction and connect with others who are enjoying the experiences with them. There’s nothing else in the world quite like it.

Excited for the opportunity to explore working in the arts after six grueling but rewarding years at goTenna, I left my own tech company and dedicated myself full-time to making my Cloud dream a reality. Although it had multiple close brushes with failure, with the help of a small handful of friends, we were able to debut The Fluffy Cloud at Burning Man 2019 after almost 11 months of non-stop work.

Since then The Cloud has been exhibited at Art Basel, Love Burn, and has big plans underway for whenever this virus situation clears up.
